Human Rights – The Modern Outlook of Jewish Sources

PROFESSOR NAHUM RAKOVER

Prof. Dr. Nahum Rakover (born on 13th of November 1932) has taught as Professor at the Bar-Ilan University in Tel-Aviv and was the Deputy Attorney General of the Israeli Government. He is one of the leading experts on the topic of the application of traditional Halacha or the rabbinical laws to the Israeli legal system.

He is committed to the Mispat Ivri movement and has authored more than 30 books and 200 articles on the Jewish Law. He has published various bibliographies on the application of Jewish Law to the Israeli justice system. His works have been honored with numerous awards; among others the Israeli Prize for Jewish Thought in 2002.

In 2010 he has received the Yakir Yerushalayim Award making him an honorary citizen of Yerushalayim.
